Unprotected pieces in middlegames

¨Loose¨ or unprotected pieces should be given special attention in chess. Loose pieces really do form the basis for most combinations, however you have to be paying attention to notice they are unprotected in the first place! When you realize your opponent has one or two unprotected pieces sitting around, start looking to set up tactics to exploit this and win material. This is a key component in chess. You need to start training the way you think to make sure you are attentive to the mistakes and threats of your opponent in every position.
