GM Neverov

Valeriy Neverov (Russian: Валерий Неверов; born June 21, 1962 in Kharkiv) is a Ukrainian chess Grandmaster (1991) and Ukrainian Champion in 1983, 1985, 1988 and 1996. He played for Ukraine in the 35th Chess Olympiad at Bled 2002. In 1991 Neverov won the Capablanca Memorial in Havana. He took part in the FIDE World Chess Championship 2004 but was eliminated in the first round by Shakhriyar Mamedyarov. In 2007/08 he tied for first with Nidjat Mamedov and Vadim Malakhatko in the Hastings International Chess Congress.

In the above endgame puzzle of Smith–Morra Gambit patterns, it is White to play. He should continue with Qxh7, forcing perpetual and draw. Instead, White, rated 1991, played the bad move, Qf6, which allows Neverov to show his skill efficiently.

The following is the full game. Note Neverov talent of exploiting masterfully his single endgame queen, king and bishop with several dangerous pawns in this game.
